50th Reunion Class Gift

Supporting the Robotics Team at Laurel

We know that Middle School Robotics Team participation often inspires VEX Team membership in Upper School, and STEM-related academic pursuits and career paths.
Growing Laurel's robotics programming is strategically important to the school, and we are grateful to the Class of 1974 for choosing this forward-thinking fundraising endeavor to mark their 50th reunion!
Robotics team participation requires girls to work both independently and together on mechanical engineering, design and electrical work to build a competitive robot. They travel to tournaments with their robot, slay opponents in the battle ring, and frequently win awards.

Laurel's Middle School FIRST LEGO Robotics team, called "The Science Sisters," and the Upper School VEX Robotics team have competed at state- and national-level championships and are among a small group of all-girls teams in Ohio and nationwide.

Read the impressive Science Sisters origin story that first appeared in the 2022 Spring edition of Highlights.

Your Impact

Though currently funded by our operating budget, your generous support will help our teams grow, purchase FIRST LEGO and VEX robot materials and cover other expenses as the girls compete locally and at state and national tournaments.

The Class of 1974 will meet members of the robotics teams at a special class lunch on Friday, May 17.
